NSW: Brogden rules out public service job cuts
SYDNEY, Feb 14 AAP - The NSW Opposition today rejected government claims it had a secretagenda to sack thousands of public servants.
Yesterday, NSW Premier Bob Carr said talk in business circles suggested the coalitionplanned to slash 5,000 public service jobs if it won office.
He said this would be a repeat of the havoc brought on the public sector by the Greinerand Kennett state governments.
But Opposition Leader John Brogden flatly ruled out plans to cut any public sector jobs.
"More than that - we're going to employ 2,000 public servants," he told reporters.
"Two thousand more teachers in kindergarten, year one and year two.
"Bob Carr yesterday was simply making things up."
